Trondheim (Norway) based fashion photographer Lena Johnsen’s style is light, playful, and colourful. She uses the internet for inspiration, but finds herself often inspired by music or a film. When shooting, she prefers location. For me, her diversity is her strength, and I can’t wait to see more of her work in the future.

Here’s some of her work:

The collaboration between Russian art director Dimitri Scheblanov and Danish photographer Jesper Carlsen results in great fashion stories. They call their partnership Herring & Herring, and they have been working together ever since they met in New York 2008. In the upcoming issue of D Mode they have made the cover story Yesterday, which I just love. Not only is Ashley Smith the right model, but the concept and feel of the whole story is so good.

Designers Maayan Zilberman & Nikki Dekker’s The Lake & Stars new Spring/Summer lookbook was shot by New York based Tom Hines, a big hero of mine. His photography is mystic, sensual and often constrained into strong concepts. And the story for The Lake & Stars combines all of that.

Usually I write some useful info here, but this time I’ll just quote the brilliant info from Patrick’s website:

“Patrick Armstrong was born and raised in upstate New York. At the age of 14, Patrick began his first job working in a funeral home, giving him the idea that crime scene photography was something he wished to pursue. He soon discovered it was much more fun to travel the world and take pictures of pretty girls.”

Personally, I love his photography for its real and raw feel to it.

Swedish fashion photographer Magus Österhult just moved back to Sweden after spending a few years shooting in New Zealand. When Magnus started out he was inspired by the work of fellow photographers, but in recent years his inspiration has shifted, and he now finds inspiration in people, places and feelings. Being self-taught, he says it has taken him some time to find his own voice. And judging by the consistency and quality of his work, he must have found it.

New York based fashion photographer and art director Carolina Palmgren has a great portfolio of work. In both art direction and photography actually. But in true Ben Trovato Blog spirit, we focus on the photography, which in this case is extremely good!

Netherlands based photographer and film director Jonathan Waiter has an unique portfolio of fashion photography. As he says himself, his main interests lie in the subjective experience of reality. His raw and untouched style makes it exciting to look through his work, and you never know what he does next. Love it!

Copenhagen based fashion photographer Henrik Adamsen started out as a retoucher in the early 90s, before moving on to graphic design and art direction, and now photography. Henrik is inspired by the life around him, like colours and light, and when shooting he never plans poses as he likes to be inspired by the moment and the dialogue between him and the model.

Henrik is pretty much self-taught, but the experience from art direction and retouching gives him an advantage in knowing what he wants, what looks good, and what doesn’t look good.

I find Henrik’s photography highly interesting, and I can definitely see that he benefitted from his experience in image creation, because his work reflects the quality and creativity of a true pro. I simply love his photography, and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for him.
