Young French fashion photographer Alexandre Brunet got his first camera when he was eight, and hasn’t stopped shooting since. Having studied photography for three years, he decided to step in to the wonderful world of fashion photography less than a year ago. His inspirations vary from social photojournalism by Martin Parr, or more personal works by Nan Goldin, to portraits by Richard Avedon, or offbeat fashion stories by Guy Bourdin, Terry Richardson, Juergen Teller and Katja Rahlwes. His work has been featured in magazines such as WAD and Dedicate Magazine, and I have a feeling we’ll see alot more of his work in the future.

The collaboration between Russian art director Dimitri Scheblanov and Danish photographer Jesper Carlsen results in great fashion stories. They call their partnership Herring & Herring, and they have been working together ever since they met in New York 2008. In the upcoming issue of D Mode they have made the cover story Yesterday, which I just love. Not only is Ashley Smith the right model, but the concept and feel of the whole story is so good.

In the upcoming October issue of Numéro Tokyo, New York based fashion photographer Sebastian Kim has an crisp editorial called Fatal Attraction, starring Katie Fogarty and Kendra Pears. Sebastian has worked for a lot of great magazines, such as i-D, V Magazine, GQ, and Teen Vogue. His commercial clients include Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, and Adidas.

With model Ali Stephens alongside Allen Tsai, David Vasiljevic has created a fun editorial for October’s Numéro Tokyo, called I Love Shopping. Ali Stephens was also awarded this month’s face in the same issue.

David Vasiljevic started out as an oil painter before discovering a passion for photography. He now spends his time between New York, London and Paris, working for magazines such as American and Chinese Vogue, i-D and Numéro. His commercial clients include Stella McCartney, Swarovski, Givenchy Perfume, H&M, Armani and Levi’s.

Steven Klein’s editorial Extreme Couture starring pop star Rihanna, is featured in the September edition of Vogue Italia. I usually don’t post editorials with pop stars, but this editorial really got me. Steven Klein is one of the biggest names within fashion photography, and has worked for all the big magazines, as well as collaborated with Madonna on different projects.

New York and Los Angeles based fashion photographer Brooke Nipar has worked for editorial clients such as Complex, Marie Claire, Maxim, Nylon, Teen Vogue, and Vibe. Her commercial clients include Converse, Lady Footlocker, EMI Records, and Wrangler. I personally love her daring style.

So here it is, finally, the post #100 her at Ben Trovato Blog. And for this special occasion I have chosen to feature what is one of my absolute favorite fashion photographers, Sølve Sundsbø. Sølve Sundsbø is a Norwegian fashion photographer who started out taking reportage and action photos of his friends skiing and clubbing and realized that he wanted to pursue photography seriously. He moved to London in 1995 where he studied at London College of Printing, before working as an assistant for photography legend Nick Knight for three years.

“He’s accelerated at a fast rate,” says Nick Knight. “I can always tell which of the assistants are going to do well because they have drive. Add to that the fact that Sølve loves all things modern. He’s excited by the future. New technologies have entirely changed the photographic landscape and he’s someone who is embracing these different directions.”

Now Sølve has worked for clients like Giorgio Armani, Bally, Boucheron, Etro, Givenchy, Gucci jewellery, Hermès, H&M, Iceberg, Lancôme, Estée Lauder, Yves Saint Laurent, Levis, Nike, Sergio Rossi, Emanuel Ungaro and Puma. His editorial clients include Another Man, Dazed and Confused, Harper’s Bazaar, i-D, Japanese Vogue, Numero, Pop, Visionaire, V and W. He has directed short films for Nike, Gucci and SHOWstudio.

Sølve’s work is a huge source of inspiration to photographers all around the world, and especially to Norwegian photographers, like me. As there are not any other Norwegian fashion photographers doing it as good as Sølve

The Paris based fashion photography duo Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello’s imagery has been published in magazines such as Numéro, Flair, The New Yorker, Russian Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Chinese Vogue, Uomo Vogue, Italian Vogue, and Teen Vogue. They met in Buenos Aires in 2002 while Sofia was studying cinema, and Mauro played in a rock band. They later moved to Paris to start a great career in fashion photography.

New York based fashion photographer Billy Kidd has done work for magazines like Bello, LA ‘G, and Plaza. Billy’s work is quite versatile, and everything he does is of high quality. Billy Kidd (what a cool name!) is definitely a name for the future!
