He was born in Shanghai, but was raised in Vancouver where he grew up with a father with a passion for photography, something that clearly influenced him: "- I used to hate posing for him when I was a kid because he would take forever to manual focus, but I guess it kind of rubbed off on me. I've been photographing as a hobby since high school, but professional for 5 years. I started off with a lucky break in architectural photography shooting ads for luxury hotels and resorts, I loved the clients and the exotics places that it took me to, but my true passion has always been people and fashion. I just love the organic flow and different character every team and outfit brings to the shoot. For me, I don't just love photography because it's a way to express my passion, but it also captures a moment in time that will never occur again, literally. I guess cameras are really time machines!"

And what Jackson's time machine captured this time around was a stunning beauty story, exclusive to Ben Trovato. With Lucy Born from Lizbell Agency, styled by Heidi Farnola, with make up done by Andrea Tiller, hair by Christopher Deagle, and nails by manicurist Stephanie Berry, Jackson created Deliverance of Envy. "We wanted to create a story vibrant in color that shows a progression from fantasy to reality," Jackson says, and continues "Many people are so obsessed with creating the perfect image from what society pressures them to do that it literally drives them crazy. I adore trends and respect people's choices but often times their over the top desire to be something they are not consumes their own beautiful character. Lucy did a great job in expressing that internal turmoil and progression, and the team was amazing in making it all happen!"

As with many other fashion photographers, people is great source of inspiration for Jackson: "- People inspire me. No matter what shape or race, everyone is so unique and beautiful in their own way. I am so grateful for the opportunities with my travels in work to meet so many amazing people and cultures from around the world. Each one has their unique story and experience that makes me appreciate life even more and inspire me to capture the amazing beauty this world has to offer. You can only live 1 life, but you can make as many friends as you want to share experiences and stories with! Now go out, make friends, and live!"

Having settled down in New York, Jens Ingvarsson is taking his work to new places, now exploring beauty. Having been featured multiple times in 2010, this is his first feature of 2011. A Ben Trovato exclusive story, titled Ediely.

"Ediely is the nicest person I've met in my life, I've shot 2 stories with her and I'd be happy to work with her again," Jens says about model Ediely Scapinello who's with IMG NYC, and continues: "- Everything in Ediely has a unique, somewhat elvish beauty: her name, her face, the way she moves, her gentle manners. We had a lot of fun on the shoot and I'm happy with the result."

Styled by Kevin Stinson, the jewelry in the story was from Albino Riganello's "1974" collection, and the make up was done by Yumi Kaizuka: "- I have to say that Yumi is one of the greatest makeup artists I've worked with, she's a very creative mind yet there's this amazing feeling of balance about everything she does. And my best regards to Kevin, who was also my assistant that day, and who picked those really cool jewelry items."

And my best regards to Kevin, who was also my assistant that day, and who picked those really cool jewelry items."

Elena Kalis lives on a small island in the Bahamas, surrounded by clear warm ocean. During her childhood she spend a lot of time in the water and often with her camera. It comes to no surprise that she was always intrigued and inspired by how things look very different underwater: Shapes, lights, colors are shifting all the time, everything is vivid and fluid. Elena became interested in capturing this specific environment and specialised in underwater photography and we at Ben Trovato have always been a fan of this young lady, so time for a chat.

I'm pretty confident I already know the answer, but can you tell us what your biggest source of inspiration is?
" -The ocean. It’s vast and multifaceted. One day it is bright, sunny and fun. Yet there is another side which is darkness, unconsciousness, death. I can never get tired from it and it is my main daily dose of inspiration."

The Alice in Waterland series have been extremely popular and can easily be labelled as an internet phenomenon, but how did it all started?
" -Alice in Wonderland is my favorite book of all time. It’s limitless and free. It is open to interpretations and so many people are inspired by it. It occurs to me that the place Alice found herself when she fell in the rabbit hole, or when she went on the other side of the mirror, has the same quality as being underwater; different perception of reality, weightless, a dreamlike surreal feeling. I took it from there and made my own interpretation of the story. I shared a few images on art-photo sites and it was a complete surprise that it would spread so quickly. I was still in the middle of the project and it was already all over the internet, with people asking me for interviews etc. It is amazing that you can reach so many people in a very short period of time, especially considering that I live on the island with a population of a few hundred people."

Has your work been published? In what magazines? What are you currently working on?
" -I have done a few book covers, including upcoming novel by Nova Ren Suma “Imaginary Girls” (Penguin group) which I just read and liked very much. I was also published in many magazines in countries like China, Korea, USA, Greece, Span, Israel and a latest cover story for Italian “Photo Cult” to name a few. I am pushing further with underwater photography, looking for new concepts and ideas. It is fascinating and a rich subject for me."

His debut on Ben Trovato in April with Serenade : Nefertiti was highly popular, and now the Jakarta based photographer is back again with another wonderful conceptual story. Nocturne: Shiryo features model Dara Warganegara, a fresh face from B-Mgt, who was styled by Andhika Dharmapermana, and had make up and hair done by Husein Yunior.

Advan says this about the story: "- According to Japanese folklore, Shiryo means dead spirit. It also means “faint” or “dim”. On this story, I orchestrated the darkness ambience into the photo shoot, with silent mood trough spotted light on model only, native Japanese make up and hair done by Husein Yunior, and black on black layering on the garments with tulle, satin and chiffon material styled by Andhika Dharmapermana. Each piece is constructed into new look of garments. In relation with Piano Black, this series belongs in Nocturne. Nocturne itself is music that is inspired by the night."

In April, Advan told us he grew up in a house of music, creativity, and has played piano, sung, written, and painted for as long as he can remember. Read more here.

Anna Dabrowska is a Polish photographer, raised in Africa, and now based in Paris. She started taking pictures back in her teens, photographing her girlfriends: "- Making them realize they were beautiful despite their teen complexes made me realize how important image is. But I did not pursue photography in my studies, it was supposed to be my hobby. After my bachelors degree in Political Science I realized the hobby became the obsession so I dove into it." After 7 years of interning, assisting and producing, she started working for herself about two years ago. Today she's appearing on Ben Trovato for the first time with the beautiful story "Angel Wings", featuring the wonderful Myrthe De Poel with Nathalie Agency Paris. Stylist for the shoot was Marz Atashi, Susana Santos did the hair and make up, while Akari Sugino was the manicurist.

Anna says this about the story: "- In french there is a very poetic expression that one says when during a conversation all of the people suddenly stop speaking and silence sets in for a few seconds: "Un ange est passe" - "An angel just flew by".

So I wanted angelic silence."

She says on a daily basis anything can stand out and inspire her, be that an article, a decor or pola's of a new face. "- There are precise moments in life you would want to freeze and store away: a lover's look of desire, a friend's conniving wink... There are things you see and feel and then forget. The magic of photography brings it all back. That's the kind of images I would like to do. "
